Anti Ragging Cell

In accordance with the Provision of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act 1999 (with effect from 15th May 1999) ragging within or outside any educational institution is strictly Prohibited. Students and parents are informed that ragging is banned and shall be considered as a serious offence which will attract severe punishment. Any student found involved in it shall be dismissed from the institution with immediate effect and such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution for the period of five years from the date of order of such dismissal. Ragging is punishable with imprisonment for a term up to 2 years.

Specific Objectives: –

  • To absolutely prohibit ragging within or outside the college campus
  • To prevent the occurrence of ragging by following the provisions of Regulations in the institution
  • To provide punishment to those indulging in ragging as provided for in Regulations and the appropriate law in force
  • To sensitize students, to adopt measures that will prevent ragging.

What is Ragging?

Any Act Resulting in: Mental/Physical/Sexual Abuse, Verbal Abuse, Indecent Behaviour, Criminal Intimidation, Wrongful Restraint, Undermining Human Dignity, Financial Exploitation/Extortion, Use of Force etc.

The anti-ragging punishment will vary from: –

  • Imprisonment
  • Permanent Expulsion from the institution
  • Suspension from the institution
  • Fine with a public apology
  • Fine
  • Withholding of any form of financial grant (scholarship etc.)
  • Withholding of result of examination
  • Debarring from representation in college events.
