The NSS Special Winter Camp was held from 17th January 2024 to 23rd January 2024 with a total of 34 volunteers participating. The inaugural session on 17th January began at 07:00 am at the college premises under the guidance of Dr. Kanchan Shinde, Principal, who gave her best wishes for the camp. Afterwards, all volunteers and faculty left the campus and traveled to Panvadi, Tal. Purandar, Dist: Pune.
Each day, camp activities commenced at 07:00 am, starting with prayers and the NSS song. Volunteers engaged in daily activities from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm, including tree plantation, cleaning the camp site, interacting with the people of Panvadi, and creating awareness about reducing or eliminating plastic use.
Several mind-storming sessions by eminent personalities were conducted:
- Rakesh Padmakar Meena delivered a lecture on “Law, Security, and Youth
- Abhishek Anita Purushottam spoke on “Sexuality and Youth
- Amol Waghmare discussed “Development of India and Youth Participation
- Shankar Chavhan gave a guest lecture on “Entrepreneurship: Misconceptions and Reality,” encouraging NSS volunteers to contribute to society and raise awareness about business
Nilesh Sarwade, Programme Officer, conducted activities on self-awareness and commended the volunteers for their systematic camp arrangements using limited resources
Group discussion on various topics such as science and superstitions, the internet and we, and the role of media in India were also held during the period.
To raise awareness among the villagers, rallies and street plays on social issues such as education and menstrual cycles were conducted. Additionally, cultural programs featuring volunteer performances were organized.
The camp concluswith a valedictory function on the last day. The program began with the NSS song, and Sandip Bhise (Sarpanch, Panvadi) praised the NSS unit’s efforts and encouraged volunteers to continue participating in such activities. NSS volunteer Vrushali Phadtare welcomed the guests, and Vishwanath Dhiwar (Vice Sarpanch) also appreciated the NSS unit’s work. NSS leaders Ajinkya Jadhav and Mauli Dave highlighted the camp’s activities, while volunteer Gaurav Gaikwad recited his own poem. NSS volunteers shared their camp experiences, and Nilesh Sarwade proposed vote of thanks.
The camp was a memorable and impactful experience for all participants, fostering community service, personal development, and rural life understanding.
