On the occasion of “Ganeshotsav”, Rangoli and Mehndi competitions were held in Arihant College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Camp, Pune-01 by Cultural Committee, on 10th September, 2024,. The event aimed to celebrate Indian art and culture, offering a platform for students to showcase their creativity, artistry, and cultural expression. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, making it a colourful and festive occasion.
The Program Coordinator, Dr. Shikha Prasad, warmly welcomed the faculty and provided a brief introduction to the significance of Rangoli and Mehndi in Indian traditions.
The theme for the Rangoli competition was “Ganapati Festival,” which allowed participants to reflect their India’s rich culture, devotion and spirituality through their designs. Participants crafted intricate patterns depicting various Ganapati Look as traditional religious symbols, and representations of festivals. The vivid colours, creativity, and attention to detail in each design were mesmerizing, transforming the college basement into a beautiful gallery of floor art.
In Mehendi competition, designs ranged from traditional Indian styles to contemporary designs, with students demonstrating remarkable skill in freehand drawing and intricate detailing. Participants skilfully adorned hands with symmetrical patterns, including florals, peacocks, paisleys, and geometric designs. The level of creativity displayed in the contemporary category was equally impressive, with modern and fusion elements gaining much appreciation.
The panel of judges for Rangoli completion were Amreen chaudhari, Shilpa Dahatre. Sheetal Ankhushe who took a keen interest in evaluating the entries. Their task was challenging due to the high level of creativity and artistry on display.
The event concluded with an award ceremony where the winners were announced and given certificates and prizes.

The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Chaskar, Academic Director, AEF; Dr. Kanchan Shinde, I/c Principal. The competitions held were a grand success, providing a platform for students to explore their artistic talents and embrace Indian cultural traditions. The event not only encouraged creativity but also fostered a spirit of unity and teamwork among the participants. The overwhelming response and positive feedback from both participants and spectators made it clear that such cultural events are an essential part of the college experience.
