The National Science Day commemorating the discovery of the Raman Effect by the esteemed Indian Physicist Sir CV Raman, has been celebrated in our country since 1987, observed annually on the 28th of February. This year, the Department of Science and Technology extended the celebration into a week-long event titled “Science Safari: Journeying through Discovery,” spanning from the 6th to the 16th of March 2024.
The event commenced with a ceremonial inauguration on the 6th of March, followed by an inspiring address from the I/C Principal Dr. Kanchan Shinde.
First session featured a Workshop on Computer Hardware facilitated by Mr. Premey Kulkarni from Jetking, Shivajinagar. Through insightful hands-on demonstrations and patient guidance, SirĀ provided students with a comprehensive understanding of computer hardware fundamentals, enriching their knowledge in the field.
The following day witnessed an Online Science Quiz, challenging participants with a range of science-related questions designed to test and expand their knowledge.
On the 11th of March, a Workshop in Electronics titled “Raspberry Pi Media Mastery: Image and Video Capture” was conducted by Dr. Faizahmed Kurne, Head of Department, Abeda Inamdar Senior College, Pune. Students enthusiastically participated in this hands-on session, gaining practical insights into the world of Electronics.
Throughout the week, various activities including seminar, drawing, debate competitions and Science exhibition were conducted. These events provided platforms for intellectual exchange and creative expression, further enriching the scientific spirit of the occasion.
The concluding events were the Science exhibition followed by guest lecture on “Applications of Mathematics in Day-to-Day Life” delivered by Dr. Shaziya Shaikh from Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering. The session proved to be both eye-opening and enlightening, shedding light on the practical significance of mathematics in our daily lives.
Throughout the event, students actively engaged in various activities and workshops, demonstrating a genuine enthusiasm for scientific exploration. As the Science Week progressed, students not only gained valuable insights but also found joy in the process of learning and discovery, making the event a truly enriching experience for all involved.
Priti Kedari worked as event coordinator under the guidance of Devyani Patil, HoD, Department of Science and Technology, and Dr. Kanchan Shinde, I/C Principal. The collective effort of all faculty members played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event, fostering a spirit of scientific inquiry and discovery among the participants.
Through engaging workshops and interactive sessions, Science Safari instilled in students a sense of wonder and fascination for the wonders of science, motivating them to push the boundaries of their understanding.
